1) Describe five ways in which you think you have human capital that is truly unique.
1. I am motivated to succeed and chase my goals. I try not to search for a reward or praise but rather personal growth.
2. I am a thrill seeker and a risk taker. I enjoy
participating in activities and sporting events that flirt with that fine line
of safety or risky. For example:
skydiving. Skydiving is something that
many people want to do and those who do not have an interest in sky diving
wonder why anyone could because they are able to see the inherent dangers in
skydiving and would rather play it safe than take that risk.
3. I am determined to be the best individual I can be. I set short term and long term goals to keep pushing myself to improve.
4. I am responsible. I like to take care of my own matters and stay true to my
word. I also like to perform my duty as
best I can, be it as a student, employee, etc.
For example, I have been an Oceanfront Lifeguard for the past four
summers. I grew up at the beach and have
always had a love for the ocean and the water.
But now when I go to the beach, I feel the responsibilities of
lifeguarding as I will find myself looking out over the water occasionally to
insure beach safety. Being a beach
lifeguard has changed my experience of going to the beach as I now always feel
the duties of lifeguarding when around the water.
5. I am caring; I treat people with kindness and generosity.
2) Interview the five people who know you the best.
My dad describes how my faith, focus, and ability to finish help to guide my way of life.
Lauren describes how I am intrinsically motivated.
Alli believes I am different from other people because I am well-rounded. She describes traits such as responsible, smart, funny, selfless, and caring.
My sister Katie explains how I take the road less traveled. She explains how my past job experiences and medical mission trips have helped to shape me as a leader.
My mom explains several attributes that make me who I am. She describes me as charismatic, adventurous, and daring.
3) Reflect on the differences.
Greg,
ReplyDeleteYou certainly seem to be very self-aware and in-tune with your character, which is great. It's awesome that you have such a sense of adventure, as I feel that too often people miss out on amazing opportunities simply because they are afraid of the unknown and would rather play it safe, which is so sad. Great job on your interviews, my only comment would be that they seemed to be rehearsed/scripted rather than off-the-cuff/authentic statements.

ReplyDeleteHi Greg! The fact that you can recognize and explain your skills is a great thing. It’s great that you also talked to your parents! They are, together, what made you, so I imagine they’re the ones who know you best. I only talked to friends, because I couldn’t reach my mom (and she couldn’t figure out skype), so I think you doing your family was a great choice. Great job!
